Stochastic dynamics beyond the weak coupling limit: thermalization.
We discuss the structure and asymptotic long-time properties of coupled equations for the moments of a Brownian particle's momentum p(n)((t)) derived microscopically beyond the lowest approximation in the weak coupling parameter λ. Generalized fluctuation-dissipation relations are derived and shown to ensure convergence to thermal equilibrium to any order in λ.
متن کاملThe Weak-Coupling Limit of 3D Simplicial Quantum Gravity
We investigate the weak-coupling limit, κ → ∞, of 3D simplicial gravity using Monte Carlo simulations and a Strong Coupling Expansion. With a suitable modification of the measure we observe a transition from a branched polymer to a crinkled phase. However, the intrinsic geometry of the latter appears similar to that of non-generic branched polymer, probable excluding the existence of a sensible...
متن کاملWeak-Coupling Limit. II On the Quantum Fokker-Planck Equation
In a recent work we have found a contraction semigroup able to correctly approximate a projected and perturbed one-parameter group of isometries in a generic Banach space, in the limit of weak-coupling. Here we study its generator by specializing toW ∗-algebras: after defining a Physical Subsystem in terms of a completely positive projecting conditional expectation, we find that it generates a ...
متن کاملThe Weak-Coupling Limit of Simplicial Quantum Gravity
In the weak-coupling limit, κ0 → ∞, the partition function of simplicial quantum gravity is dominated by an ensemble of triangulations with the ratio N0/ND close to the upper kinematic limit. For a combinatorial triangulation of the D–sphere this limit is 1/D. Defining an ensemble of maximal triangulations, i.e. triangulations that have the maximal possible number of vertices for a given volume...
متن کاملNonthermal fixed points and the functional renormalization group
Nonthermal fixed points represent basic properties of quantum field theories, in addition to vacuum or thermal equilibrium fixed points. The functional renormalization group on a closed real-time path provides a common framework for their description. For the example of an O(N) symmetric scalar theory it reveals a hierarchy of fixed point solutions, with increasing complexity from vacuum and th...
